Timothy T. Thomas

Timothy Thomas is a graduate of SMU with a double major in Political Science and Public Policy.  After obtaining his undergraduate degree, Tim continued his studies at SMU Dedman School of Law.  Upon graduation, he took a position with JPMorgan’s Private Bank, specializing in charitable trusts. Tim advised high net worth clients across the country on types of trusts to accomplish their estate planning goals.  Tim left the bank in 2008 and started his own practice concentrating on Estate Planning for LGBT individuals and couples.  Tim understands the importance of providing community members with the legal wording necessary to protect their loved ones in great times of need like death or hospitalization.  Since the founding of his firm, Tim has broadened his practice to include probate and general business issues.

Tim’s community and volunteer activities center around the Human Rights Campaign.  Tim currently serves on the DFW Federal Club’s Governing Committee, where he is the co-chair of the Club’s membership activities.  Tim, and his partner, Martin, are also sponsors and supporters of the Black Tie Dinner, Dallas Opera, Lambda Legal, Family Equality Council, and Uptown Players.

In his free time, Tim enjoys spending time and traveling with his partner, Martin.  His favorite books, movies, and TV shows involve vampires, werewolves, and magic.  He is looking forward to the new season of HBO’s True Blood, where all three will be featured.  Tim’s favorite author is Daniel Silva for his series of books about the character, Gabriel Allon, who is an Israeli Secret Service operative.

Other than being a lawyer, which Tim has wanted to be since he was a child watching Law and Order and To Kill a Mockingbird, Tim’s other dream job would be to become a United States Senator.
